History

Polish Fire Festival was born in our heads at the beginning of our activity. The foundation of this idea was the desire to socialize with other groups involved in the artistic work of the fire arts.In the beginning it was to be a very loose way of meeting people involved in such arts, but after numerous discussions within the group and discussions with the Office of City Promotion Ostroda slowly turned to the idea of creating a major event dealing with issues of fire as a tool of the artist.

1st Edition - 2004

Festiwal Ognia 2004 Ostróda The first festival of fire, was a small event, attended by no more than 50 people. Joint training and joint workshops resulted in a performance that showed how the festival should be developed. During many attempts we have created a show called "ex animo", which was a reference to the Slavonic mythology. Already it was clear that such events have a future in Poland.

2nd Edition - 2005

Festiwal Ognia 2005 Ostróda The second festival of fire was in a sense a preparation for a really big event. As organizers we knew what we should lay our interest on during the subsequent festivals. A fire parade was held through the streets of the city during this edition. Parade wandering the streets at all times headed to the place where the final of the festival was going to be held. During the march, participants presented their skills on four street scenes. Ostróda residents who passed by stopped at least temporarily to see what is happening on the streets. The second edition of the Festival of Fire was also an experiment for the final performance. We wanted to show that dancing with fire is not only an appeal to mysticism fire, but it's also great fun and the passion of many people. The result was a performance titled"Mechanics", showing the work of garage and talking about building a fire vehicle. The whole final took place in a humorous convention...

3rd Edition - 2006

Festiwal Ognia 2006 Ostróda With a view to subsequent editions of the festival event we moved to a new location and larger facility - Ostróda Sport and Recreation Centre’s sports and recreation hall. It was a good move, because the number of participants who had moved to Ostróda made the festival became the largest and most famous event in the Polish fire dancers and prestidigitators environment. This festival was also a breakthrough in terms of the final. After many stormy discussions, we decided to develop an initial scenario and to choose the theme of the play, so that the participants knew it even before coming to Ostróda. Participants were prepared perfectly, so that during the festival we were able to watch amazing costumes referring to the final performance. We decided to make the final based on the climate of post nuclear future, while the final performance showed the two clans fight, fighting for the right to power. The play we called "Fire & Steal."

4th Edition – 2007

Festiwal Ognia 2007 Ostróda In preparation for this edition we have retained a lot of ideas from previous years. But we wanted to try something new ... so the idea of trying to establish a record of the number of people belching fire at the same time and place appeared. 76 participants have successfully faced with this task. The theme of this edition of the finals was crazy, surreal circus. The participants showed a performance titled "Circus Freak Show."

5th Edition - 2008

Festiwal Ognia 2008 Ostróda After a high turnout in the designation of record in belching fire at the Fourth edition, we decided to break this record again. An attempt to break the record went in a stunning number of 114 people! Final Festival talked about the outstanding fire fight between the Dark versus Good. We managed to create a simple and sheer show, which was also the biggest fire spectacle in Poland.
